Social Media is the new ‘must have’ in the marketing/ communications toolkit. Corporate Twitter feeds abound, we ask people to ‘like’ us on Facebook, and ghost bloggers are doing a booming business writing for CEOs and VPs all over the world. We are told to get busy with social networking and you’ll drive sales, increase conversion, or in the case of the social enterprise, increase engagement.
The problem with these expectations is that for every organization that has achieved success through social networking, there are dozens more that haven’t. Why not? Was it that they are necessarily doing it wrong, or was it that some of the assumptions about how social networking are simply not true for that organization? Join Karyn as she unplugs the myths and exposes the unexamined assumptions about social media using a recent case study from research ADGi did for a BC-based social enterprise.
